Exquisite Antique Reclaimed Wood & Railroad Spike Treasure
This unique, one-of-a-kind art piece is the perfect blend of up-cycled Cleveland steel and old growth wood. We used part of a beam, which is extremely special, as it is from the heart of a structural log that we carefully deconstructed from an 1832 built Victorian home in Berea, Ohio. Then we blended this over 180 year old piece of poplar with some up-cycled railroad spikes from a deconstructed steel mill railroad spur to create a rustic treasure. The wood measures –14 3/8" long by 7“ tall by 2 1/4“ thick (the railroad spikes protrude approximately 4 1/2“ past the front of the beam. Hand crafted in our shop, fully assembled and carefully hand varnished to a deep, lustrous finish to bring out the natural aging and patinas of the wood. History and beauty will adorn your home.
This will fit any décor – can be used as a wall hanging art object, table centerpiece (we provided cork on the back for this purpose), hat/coat plaque or any number of other uses.
If wall hanging is desired, we pre-drilled countersunk holes and provided two kinds of anchoring hardware (lag bolts for wood walls and expansion anchors for hollow walls). Once wall hanging is achieved, there are tapered wood dowels which are pushed into the holes to conceal the screw heads to create the perfect “blind mounting” system.
